INTERNSHIP, RESIDENCY AND FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMMES

Aga Khan University invites applications to its Postgraduate Medical Education Programmes starting January 1, 2012.
Responsibilities

INTERNSHIP
All medical graduates, including those expecting their MBBS final results by end November, 2011 are eligible to apply.

RESIDENCY
Applications are invited for Residency programmes in the following disciplines:
Adult Cardiology; Anaesthesiology; Cardiothoracic Surgery; Chemical Pathology; Community Medicine; Diagnostic Radiology; Emergency Medicine; Family Medicine; Gastroenterology; General Surgery; Haematology; Histopathology; Internal Medicine; Microbiology; Neurology; Neurosurgery; Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Operative Dentistry; Ophthalmology; Orthodontics; Orthopaedic Surgery; Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery; Paediatric Surgery; Paediatrics & Child Health; Psychiatry; Pulmonary Medicine; Radiation Oncology; Urology.
A candidate can apply for only one Residency programme at a time. There are opportunities for flexible training programmes. Details are available in the programme brochure and on our website: www.aku.edu

FELLOWSHIP
Applications are invited for Fellowship (post-residency advanced training) in the following disciplines:
Adult Infectious Disease; Cardio-thoracic Anaesthesiology; Clinical Neurophysiology and Electrodiagnostic Medicine; Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism; Diagnostic Neuro-Imaging; Feto-Maternal Medicine; Gastrointestinal Surgery; Interventional Cardiology; Intensive Care Medicine; Medical Oncology; Neonatal Paediatrics; Paediatrics Critical Care Medicine; Neurovascular; Paediatric Cardiology; Paediatric Haematology/Oncology; Paediatric Infectious Diseases; Paediatric Neurology; Pain Management; Peripheral Vascular Surgery; Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

ADMISSION INFORMATION

Application material is also available from the Admission Office, Medical College, Aga Khan University, P.O. Box 3500, Stadium Road, Karachi 74800, Pakistan for Rs. 200/- payable by cash / pay order / bank draft in favour of Aga Khan University drawn on a bank in Karachi, if requesting by post in Pakistan.
The Admission Office is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Application Fees and Deadlines:
Early Bird Registration (all programmes):
Last Date: Monday, August 29, 2011
Registration Fee: Rs 2,000/-
Registration Deadline after August 29, 2011 (all programmes):
Friday, September 23, 2011
Registration Fee: Rs 4,000/-

The completed application form along with required attachments must be received in the Medical College Admission Office, Aga Khan University between 9:00 am - 12:00 noon.

Admission Test:
All candidates for the Internship and Residency Programmes will be required to attempt an Admission Test on Sunday, October 2, 2011 to be held simultaneously in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Details will be notified through the admit card.

Admission into the Fellowship programmes is based on academic qualifications, past experience and interviews. There is no Admission Test for entrance into Fellowship training.
Applicants selected from training programmes in other institutions must submit a “No Objection Certificate” or a copy of the resignation approved by the supervising consultant before joining.
