Manager / Senior Manager, Resource Development
Aga Khan University invites experienced fundraising professionals to apply for the position of Manager / Senior Manager, Resource Development to be based at its Karachi campus. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and implementing all aspects of fundraising in Pakistan including annual fund as well as multi-year major gifts initiative as part of an overall University campaign.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director General, Resource Development, and in close consultation with the faculty leadership and our volunteers, the Manager/ Senior Manager Resource Development will be primarily responsible for strengthening AKU’s position in the funding community to realize annual and long-term funding goals. In particular, he/she will:
•Work with the fundraising committees of the University to develop and implement an annual and multi-year major gifts fundraising plan;
•Develop and direct comprehensive annual and major gift fundraising efforts for the University in Pakistan, including the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of prospective donors (i.e. individuals, corporations, foundations);
•Implement and manage donor database, donor files, development schedule and budget;
•Coordinate the production and mailing of annual appeal letters;
•Assist in the creation, management, and implementation of an annual donor stewardship plan and annual fundraiser;
•Work with the Director General and faculty leadership to develop, implement, report and track on grant-funded projects as well as coordinate progress reports;
•Collaborate with central Resource Development staff, the Deans, faculty, and staff of the University to establish fundraising goals;
•Assume other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
•Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Communications from an accredited university;
•Minimum of five years' experience in major and principal gifts fundraising for higher education or commensurate senior management experience in not-for-profit fund development with successful track record in securing grants and individual gifts;
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a high level of proficiency in English and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner;
•Proven ability to work autonomously and to handle prospect identification, multiple solicitations, and stewardship activities simultaneously;
•Understanding of public and private fund development, annual campaign, budget management, and special events production experience, developing proposals and materials in support of major gift fundraising;
•Demonstrated ability to cultivate and work collaboratively with board volunteers, donors and community organizations.
