Project Manager (Software Development) - KHI


Job Title : Project Manager (Software Development)
Location : Karachi
Job Type : Permanent
Qualification : MS/ BS in computer science or information systems.
Experience : 5 years+
Job Responsibilities :
  1. Manage teams of Team Leads & software engineers for the activity of software development.
  2. Setup processes to streamline and document communication with client’s development team.
  3. Ensure projects are managed according to a formal project management methodology.
  4. Setup robust processes to ensure delivery of quality work on time.
  5. Give his input in design, development and deployment processes.
  6. Keep Client satisfied with his team output during project development, deployment and support.
  7. Keep his team motivated, and make all team member work actively during project development and deployment.
  8. Maintain a good discipline in his team.
  9. Make monthly report of every team member performance
  10. Perform quarterly performance review for every team member
  11. Manage HR issues within the team, in coordination with HR department.
  1. Work with Architects to ensure that high level estimates are provided to agreed timescales
  1. Work with Team leads to ensure requirements are complete (where possible) and detailed designs developed prior to coding starting
  2. Work with development leads to ensure that plans include writing and executing of unit tests for all functionality
  3. Hold regular team meetings to ensure team members are fully appraised of the wide development picture, agreed milestones and deliver dates
  4. Develop and maintain detailed project plans to represent owned content of each release. Where others have responsibility for parts of the plan, encourage ownership and responsibility for updating the plan through regular meetings.
  5. Work with team leads to resource all items on the plan. Ensure critical path analysis is carried out to identify the areas of greatest risk.
  6. Report clearly on project status at agreed regularity, identifying any risk or issues in a timely fashion.
  7. Ensure change requests are estimated and when approved included in the release plans.
  8. Monitor the status Tickets  being raised against owned areas of product through regular conversations with support managers of BAG staff and by querying defect tracking systems.
  9. Take appropriate action on Tickets based on severity guidelines, ensuring items are assigned to team members and that they understand the relative priority of this work over other release work.
  10. Work with team leads where appropriate to put in place development plans for staff members.
  11. Take direct action to ensure team members are engaged and motivated.
  12. Ensure company communications are delivered positively to your team as appropriate
  13. Build good working relationship with Client.
Experience :
  • 5+ years of experience of formal project management in offshore product development and support environment.
  • Experience in Java & J2EE development experience will be preferred.
  • Experience of managing technically focused people and projects, ideally having experience in running multiple technical teams and projects concurrently.
  • Experience of project management using Agile/Scrum methodology will be an advantage
